Civilization is Killing Us - and Faster Than Ever Before

"Civilization" has not been good for the planet or humanity in many ways -- do you agree?

And since I asked that question more than 4 years ago, things have gotten worse due to the greed of fossil fuel companies and recently with the wave of state and federal government actions aimed to stop the Water Protectors of Standing Rock, the irresponsible appointment a man out to destroy the EPA as its head, the muzzling of various federal agencies from providing factual scientific reports on pollution and climate change to the public and to Congress, and the passage by state legislatures of permission to literally mow down all who stand in their way.

It is a very dark time for MotherEarth.

Sun Bear of the Chippewa Tribe wrote:

I do not think the measure of a civilization is how tall its buildings of concrete are, But rather how well its people have learned to relate to their environment and fellow man.

Politicians and their sycophants are failing at a colossal, dizzying, nauseating rate this week -- the first week of the neo-facist regime in Washington DC -- to relate to anything but their scramble to take advantage of the power structures in order to dominate and corrupt and spread fear.

And frightened people are turning against the very families and individuals who need help the most, compassion apparently reserved only for those who look, think, act, and pray just like them. But compassion with strings attached is no compassion at all.

So we thank the Protesters against this cancerous corruption, and the Protectors of the Water/ Air/ Sunlight/ Soil and all the Innocents of Nature. We thank the Advocates for the oppressed and the Activists for human rights. We thank the Truth Tellers, and those who remind us of previous dark days of history.

And we thank those who open their eyes and see what's happening, those who open their ears to real facts, and those who open their hearts to the scared ones.
